Question 1

Why is my oven not heating but the stovetop works?

Accepted Answer

The oven and stovetop have separate controls. When only the oven is dead, it's usually the bake element or igniter, a thermal fuse, the temperature sensor, or a control board relay.

Question 2

Why does my broiler work but my oven won't bake?

Accepted Answer

On electric ovens, the bake element has usually burned out. On gas ovens, the bake igniter is usually too weak to open the gas valve. Both are common, straightforward repairs.

Question 3

My gas oven igniter glows but won't light. Why?

Accepted Answer

A worn igniter can glow without drawing enough current to open the safety valve, so no gas flows. Replacing the igniter is the usual fix.

Question 4

How do I know if my bake element is bad?

Accepted Answer

With the oven off and cool, look for breaks, blisters, or burned spots. If it looks fine but doesn't glow red when baking, it can still have failed inside. A tech can test it with a meter.

Question 5

Can a bad temperature sensor stop my oven from heating?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A faulty sensor can make the oven heat slowly, run cold, overshoot, or show an error code. On some models the control shuts off the heat completely.

Question 6

My oven stopped heating after self-clean. What happened?

Accepted Answer

Self-clean runs very hot and can blow a thermal fuse, damage the control board, or leave the door lock stuck. Let it cool fully and try again. If it still won't heat, it needs a repair.

Question 7

Is it worth repairing my oven or should I replace it?

Accepted Answer

Most no-heat problems come down to one part, like an element, igniter, sensor, or relay, so repair is usually worth it, especially on quality or pro-style ovens. We'll give you an honest recommendation after we diagnose it.

Question 8

How much is an oven diagnosis?

Accepted Answer

An $85 diagnosis that's waived when you approve the repair, then an upfront price before work begins.

Question 9

Is there a warranty on oven repairs?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our repairs come with a 90-day warranty.

Question 10

Can I use my oven if I smell gas?

Accepted Answer

No. Don't light it or flip switches. Leave the home and call your gas utility or 911 from outside.
